Why do dogs love us even after punishment or when we've let them down?

As mentioned before dogs are the most noble, loyal, selfless, and courageous animals, and so many other positive adjectives we can use to describe them that it would be an endless list. These incredible animals in most cases, have even sacrificed themselves to save us.

We on the other hand, are not as noble, kind and loyal to them because depending on our mood we will react to their behavior. There has been times in which one goes back home after a long hard work day and just doesn't accept the least misbehavior from anyone including our pets, so we shout at them, spank them, send and keep them grounded for as long as our bad attitudes stays with us, and so many other bad attitudes.

The question is how bad we feel afterwards knowing that they weren't responsible for us being mad at ourselves or against someone else. But incredibly as it can sound they have no grudge against us even after being mistreated. Us humans really don't deserve such good friends.
