We humans show affection in many ways like hugging, kissing, patting and others. But kissing is the most special one because one actually feels the warmth and intensity of the feeling being expressed through this action. Dogs, I believe, do the same. Since they cannot hug or pat you they express their joy, gratitude and content by licking us. And to say the truth, we dog lovers, love these expressions of caring love and affection.
