Why do dogs chase cats?
Believed to be rivals by nature dogs seem to always be willing to take a chance chasing cats. It really seems more like those detective stories in which the detective always goes after the same crook and although it's his job to catch him, he really respects him and will probably miss him if he does get to catch him some day. What I´m trying to say is that canines and felines have a special bond.
I think that Garfield is a perfect example of what dog and cat relationship is in real life. Cats feel so self-reliant that it seems they look the rest of domestic animals over their shoulder, and that really bugs dogs. It pisses them off. Now this is the point in which dogs just see a cat and rocket out to chase an animal that because of their stretchy body and slick attitude almost never is caught. Especially with the climbing skills they have been given by nature.
Besides, one can always find a cat around the corner to play with and enjoy a very active jogging session.
