Puppies That Eat Dirt, Leaves, Snails and Other Gross Things Just like kids, puppies love exploring and one such way to do this is to explore with their mouths. You may have gone through the frightful sight of your puppy eating snails or digging thorough the trash, actually, even adult dogs do this sometimes to get some extra food in them and believe it or not it is completely normal for dogs to do this and even considered necessary in the dog society. Now don't take it too far though, even though it isn't a terrible thing for dogs to eat the unimaginable, still keep in mind that they can indeed become sick from stuff they find in the trash. Make sure to always keep him supervised and or not allowed to get into things that can harm him. There are many different types of durable toys that can be used to satisfy those teething stages and many different types of places you can place your puppy so he is not in any sort of danger of eating something that he shouldn't. Puppi es are like kids in that they can get in trouble in a moment's notice. And because of this obvious factor we have gathered some suggestions on how to safe guard your home from things that could be puppy dangerous. - Provide your puppy with different types of puppy toys.
- If you have any types of hazardous plants inside your house or in the garden that are toxic, get rid of them.
- Hide and put away chemicals and cleaning agents such as detergents, bleach, etc.
- Place a gated area up in the house for the puppy, which can serve as a place you can play with him. (Obviously he will not be able to be left in this area all the time).
- When you have to go out and are not going to be able to take care of the puppy, place him inside the gated area to avoid him from getting in trouble.
- There are different types of options as to where to keep your puppy or dog when you need to go out. This depends on the size and age of the dog. A smaller puppy will probably like a crate, whereas a dog will probably prefer a dog run or a specific dog room.
- Make sure there aren't any small spaces your teensy puppy could escape from such as gaps in fences etc.
- Always leave your puppy with a puppy toy or something with your odor on it when you go out so he feels comforted and has something to play with.
- When you go out for over 2 hours make sure to leave the puppy with fresh water, a place where he can do his needs, and food if necessary.
