How Is It That Puppies Learn So Fast?
Just like young children, puppies are sponges when it comes to learning. Puppies love to investigate, experiment, explore their surroundings, make decision, touch things, and even manipulate the way they treat their own owners. In order to control the way a puppy handles his surroundings and the things he gets into, it is always best to train him starting at a very young age. Take him to get trained at a puppy training school as soon as you can so that he can learn as many things as possible while it is still easy to teach him. Later on trying to teach an adult dog will be more difficult and in some cases almost impossible.
If it takes the puppy a long time to learn things, remember that it isn't the puppy's fault, it's the human's fault. Puppies only learn as much as they are able to understand from us, so if the human trainer is not being clear about what he or she wants to teach, the puppy will take much longer to learn, or simply won't learn.
The following are some tips for dog trainers:
- Don't do long boring training sessions but rather break them down into small sessions.
- Reward you puppy with every successful attempt. This can be done with puppy treats and lots of praise.
- Give your puppy the rewards he likes like food, cookies, toys etc.
- Consistency is key to training
