While I was in Knoxville Tennessee, a Pet Sitting radio program came on over the radio and was talking about new combinations dog breeders have come up with in the canine world. There are some new mixes that have become so popular that there are actually clubs and registries for breeders like the American Canine Hybrid Club. And there are some new very interesting and wacky mixes that are actually considered breeds. In the Knoxville Tennessee Pet Sitting radio program they mentioned a few that sounded very strange but very interesting. We did a little of our own research on the internet on the subject as well and found a list of different “registered” dog breeds. Here are some. Broodle – is the combination of a Brussels griffon and a Poodle, Chiweenie – is the combination of Chihuahua and a Dachshund, Malchi – is the combination of a Maltese and a Chihuahua, Scoodle – is the combination of a Scottish terrier and a Poodle, Wauzer – is the combination of a West Highland Terrier and a Mini Schnauzer, and what is known as a Jarkie which is the combination of a Japanese chin with a Yorkshire terrier. These new breeds are what are known these days as designer breeds and must have for all those fashion freaks. From what I heard there are some dog breeders that are claiming that these dogs are more intelligent and have fewer health problems than actual purebred dogs but keep in mind that there are some breeders that will tell you you’re getting the best of both worlds when its actually not true. Keep in mind that buying a dog from a reputable breeder is paying for the predictability of the breed, which includes, size, character, and training abilities and other important factors. So be careful where you get your new designer dog.
