Preparing Meals and Snacks for Ferrets
Ferrets are strictly meat-eaters not unlike cats. However, they should not be fed generic cat food, although some premium cat foods have the proper nutrition. Ferrets should also not be fed dog food. An appropriate diet will have:- High Energy
- High Protein
- Low Fiber
Today you can find ferret diets in most pet stores and should feed a high quality pellet diet to your ferret. Use a deep crockery bowl or a bowl clipped onto the side of the cage to keep your naturally digging ferret from knocking his food over. Keep bowls filled with a not much more than a quarter cup per ferret every day.Avoid wet food which quickly spoils.: Ferrets should have fresh water at all times. Supplying a bottle of water is a good idea, but ferrets prefer to drink out of bowls. Provide a bowl full of clean water and clip to the side of the cage to avoid spilling. Good ferret snacks: Give any snacks in moderation. Too many snacks, even good ones, can be bad for your ferret. - Semi-moist cat or ferret treats

Avoid - Marshmallows
- Potato chips
- Peanut butter
- Ice cream
- Soda
