Placenta Retention
This kind of retention is more common in cows, goats or she than in dogs, because these only expel small placentas that come out of the body easily. But in the case of retention in Bulldogs or some kind of toy breeds, there is an effective remedy consisting in an infusion made of Ivy leaves (1 to 3 leaves) which is boiled in water (1 cup), and that does so for a couple of hours. The doses is 2 teaspoons every 3 hours. If a dog shows discomfort after giving birth, put her on a milk and honey or water and honey diet for a number of days; additionally, you have to give her some laxatives.
