Cat & Dog Practical Natural Medical Treatments
The eye diagnose: This is an adequate method which helps identify the state of health of the animal. If there is disease or fever, the generally white parts of the eye become reddish. The pupils of the eye also noticeably change, presenting a pale sad aspect.
Applying a suppository: As the first warning, do not use Vaseline or glycerin, as is usually indicated on the wrapping of the medication. Simply introduce the suppository by pressing it into the anus and making sure the dog doesn't push it out in the following three or five minutes.
Applying an enema: In order to apply an enema, you need a small a rectal syringe and approximately three quarters of a liter of warm water in which you have already mixed a teaspoon of hamamelis (deciduous shrubs or small trees, with hazel), which revitalizes the intestinal walls. You can replace the hamamelis with a teaspoon of lemon or simply black tea. Fill the syringe with the warm water and inject it slowly and without interruptions into the intestine while you keep the back legs of the animal raised. Do this until you are sure that all the liquid has penetrated the intestines. After that, the dog will have an evacuation that will disintoxicate his intestines. This kind of enema does not take more than five minutes and is usually inestimable; in the same way as with the herb infusions, the quantities that I mention here are for middle sized dogs (cocker spaniel, remember) and you'll need more or less quantities depending on the breed.
