Naturally Treating Dog Tail Wounds

These are frequent. The big canine breeds, like the Great Dane and the Irish Wolfhound, are the ones that suffer the most form this kinds of disease when kept in breed houses. What happens is that they bump their tails against the walls and doors.

Treatment: get ivy leaves (not the poisonous ones) and convert them to pulp. Apply the pulp to the wounds on the tail, fastening it in place with the help of a cotton cloth. This same herb, blended with lanolin will serve as an ointment. An alternative can be hamamelis lotion. You might have to use a bandage to hold the stuff in place because the tail tends to be quite slippery.
