Naturally Treating Dog Fractures Cases of broken limbs occur very frequently; generally, it is the long leg bones that get injured, and sometimes the ribs. There are three kinds of fractures: simple, when the bone breaks in one only place and there is no wound; composed, when there is a wound apart from the fracture; complex, when the bone and has broken into many little pieces.Treatment: a simple fracture does not present a lot of difficulty; the other two kinds of fractures demand more attention. The first thing you should do is try to get in contact with your veterinarian. Secondly, place the broken bones in their natural position. After that, if veterinarian help is not on the way, try to splint and bandage the broken parts, making sure that the affected bone(s) cannot move. In as much as possible, avoid the use of casts. I have always preferred the use of splints. As for internal treatment, administer an infusion based on leaves of broom (Any of various shrubs of the genera Cytisus or Genista or Spartium having long slender branches and racemes of yellow flowers) or retama (Small genus of Mediterranean shrubs; often included in genus Genista) because these leaves have important properties which help with the joining the fracture bones. It is also helpful to give your dog a lot of raw goat milk and it helps solder the broken bones. |
