Naturally Treating Dog Coughs In dogs, coughing is a symptom of a health disorder, which can be distemper or the presence of worms. However, when coughing is just due to a state of irritation of the mucous membranes or of the lungs or throat, the solution is an internal and external treatment.Treatment: Prepare a strong infusion based on the root of licorice (a deep-rooted coarse-textured plant native to the Mediterranean region which has blue flowers and pinnately compound leaves; it is widely cultivated in Europe for its long thick sweet roots). Add approximately half a liter of cold water and put to boil. Add a teaspoon of honey for every teaspoon of the licorice mixture. Give your dog two teaspoons of this preparation before every meal. As an external treatment, apply friction to the chest and neck with eucalyptus oil. The dose is a teaspoon mixed into a cup of hot olive oil. Keep the area warm by means of hot towels. |
