Keeping Your Dog Chained

Above all else, never leave your dog chained. I have seen dogs chained all over the world: in factories, farms, houses, police stations, etc, and believe me there will come a day when keeping your dog chained will be forbidden.

A couple of years ago, a round my friend's house, whom I had been visiting and staying with, I noticed there was this dog that had been tied to a tree for almost a whole month. The tree didn't provide much shade, which means the poor little thing would get burned all day, with the light of the sun, and frees all night, due to the cold weather where I live. His food consisted in the typical prison food: hard stale bread and water; only that. The poor dog lied on his own excrement, the flies tormented him and the rats disputed over the leftovers of the bread. His howls of desperation bothered all the neighbors, but nobody did anything. If I had liberated the dog, because of his canine instinct, he would have walked miles and miles back to the house of his owner, who would have punished him and returned him to the tree. If I had stolen him, in order to place him in the custody of a kinder person, the police would have found him and returned them. What a horrible cruelty!
