Keeping the Dog House Warm During Winter

Litters born during winter are not natural. Wild wolves and foxes know when to mate in order to assure birth during spring so that they can naturally raise their puppies in the warm spring heat.

However, if you have puppies to take care of during winter, you can heat them up using a kerosene lamp. Be careful, though, that you do not put the lamp too close to where the puppies might be able to knock it over and cause a fire. Also make sure that the lamp is clean, with no drop of kerosene on the outside because if not it will emit a strong smell. You can also use an electrical heating lamp, which is actually much safer.
