Diet After the Puppy Turns 4 Months
After your dog has turned four months old, stop giving him the eight o'clock in the morning food, and only feed him at midday, 4 in the afternoon and at 8 in the evening. The ration of cereals has to be increased in order to completely satisfy his appetite; you will also increase the ration of meat to 8 ounces, approximately a quarter of a kilo, or more, and raw vegetables, until a big spoonful. After he has turned eight months the meals will be reduced to two: cereals and midday; meat in the afternoon or evening; in any case, it has to consist in enough amount as to leave your dog satisfied.
Note: all puppies, from the time they are weaned, must rest and disintoxicate their internal organs frequently by means of regular fasts. The puppy should never be tricked or tempted into eating. If he does not eat his food quickly enough put them on a fast for about 12 hours or more. Any puppy older than four months old must be on a fast of at least half a day at least once a week (I suggest a day could be Sunday); and a whole day fast once a month; and old dogs should have a whole day fast once a week.
Don't stop puppies from eating dirt or cattle excrement because it is something natural in carnivores. Encourage him, in fact, to do so.
Important: from the beginning until the end of this specific diet you shouldn't mix a lot of meat with starches in the same meal; they're incompatible and cause acidity, with the resulting indigestion, which can provoke hysteria, gastritis, worms and other disorders. One only exception is the possibility of sprinkling oat flakes, which is a cereal that is rich in proteins, in order to give additional fiber, in case you can not get bran or hard integral bread crust, or an integral cookie. You also shouldn't give too much milk on its own; it must be fortified with honey or thickened with tree bark flours, or with whole wheat cereals, so that this way you don't let your dog create phlegm in his body. You have to take certain precautions when feeding your dog sour cereals during the hot seasons of the year because it can cause nasty intestinal pains.
Additional note: the quantities mentioned here are for middle sized puppies; bigger sizes need more, depending on how big they are.
