| Why Train Hunting Dogs from PuppyMost experienced hunters will tell you that acquiring a hunting dog that is already trained and matured is simply not a good idea. The problems are very much the much the same as when trying to correct behavioral problems or train any adult dog. It requires an incredible amount of time, effort, patience and consistent hard work and very often the end result is either out right failure or only a partial improvement that does not in any way justify the inversion of time and expense. The process of teaching and training a dog has sometimes been likened to growing trees. If they are not grown true and straight from the time they are saplings the end result will be both undesirable and unchangeable. Once a hunting dog has been trained and has matured remember that it will only perform at its peak ability with its original trainer and changing owners at this point will literally cause the dog to revert to its pre-training behavior and even if the dog does keep hunting it is most unlikely that it will ever perform as well as it once did. |
