Will inoculation provides an absolute guarantee for my dog

Does Dog inoculation guarantee dog won't be affected by serious illness like parvovirus?

Unfortunately, there is no such guarantee, but if the vaccine is properly administrated, in most cases it will provide complete protection against the respective diseases. A vaccine works when the immunology system of the body can be activated, in the contrary (in case, for example, that mother's antibodies neutralize the vaccine in a young puppy) there will be few or no protection at all.

This is why inoculations must be repeated in young dogs. The immunology system in a small minority of dogs may be not able to react after the influence of the mother's antibodies disappears. It's possible to measure the reaction of antibodies to a vaccine, but this is not usually done, because is too expensive, and usually vaccines are very effective. Certainly, there is no reason for not inoculating a dog, arguing that vaccines are not effective. Companies invest great amounts of money in investigation and developing dog's vaccines, testing their efficiency. It's known that several vaccines, notably corticosteroids, paralyze the immunity reaction of the body. When the dog is receiving these treatments, inoculations are not recommended. Likewise, if your female dog is pregnant, she must not be inoculated with living bacteria, it could damage the puppies. Also an old dog has less possibility to produce antibodies, and therefore, regular inoculations have a major importance in the final days of his life.
