What to do in case of asphyxia?

Determine the cause of Asphyxia Shocking or Strangulation if possible. Try to expel from the dog's mouth whatever object is obstructing the air from going in, using large pincers or your fingers. If this procedure doesn't turn feasible because you can either not find the cause of the obstruction or it's beyond your reach:

  • Place both arms at the length of the thorax to try to expel the objectWhat causes Dog Asphyxia Shocking or Strangulation
  • Apply pressure on the mentioned area to try to expel the object
  • Check that the animal, when coughing, is expelling the object
  • Otherwise, place a plane, long object (like the handle of a wooden spoon) in the base of the tongue, and push downwards to induce vomiting
  • If after all these attempts the animal still has difficulties to breathe, take it to an emergency veterinarian clinic the same way you would do when other symptoms appeared
