Vegetable & beef sauce recipe for dogs
The Shar Pei was bred in China as a fighting dog. Its overly wrinkled skin was probably a good protection against receiving deep and serious bites. This pet is now sought after not for its ability to fight but its lovableness and cuteness.
Ingredients
½ cup ground beef
½ cup dog broth (see directions for preparation)
½ teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons oil
½ clove garlic, minced
1 carrot, diced
1 cup bok choy
½ cup peas
2 scallions, chopped finely
Cooked rice or kibble
Put the beef inside a frying pan and cook over medium heat. Break up the meat with a wooden spoon so that it cooks well. Add in the dog broth and soy sauce mix. Cook until the gravy has thickened slightly. Reserve this mixture.
Heat the oil over medium heat in the wok and add in the garlic, brown slightly. Then, add in the carrots, and stir fry these for about 3 minutes. Next, add the meat sauce, peas, and scallions and cook for 2 minutes. Makes sure that the vegetables are coated thoroughly with the sauce. Serve over the cooked rice or kibble.
Makes 3 cups.
