Usable Sources: The basic foods are easy to find. The most frequent ones are meat, fish, cereals, vegetables, oil, beer yeast and the mineral complements. The large supermarkets offer meat for animals which have variable qualities, since it is often that they have too much fat or they have a large amount of tissue that has no nutritious value. In any case, meat with little fat is the best kind, like the heart of the ox or cow. Horse meat has more proteins than the pig's, while bird's meat can be as greasy as that of an ox. Lamb should only be fed to the dogs in the case that they have a nutritious allergy. The meat must be fresh and must be kept between 0° and 4°C. If the meat has a stale smell then it must be disposed of, that is a sign that the oxidation of the fats have already started. It is better to cut the meat in chunks than in little pieces. It is better to feed it raw or lightly cooked to eliminate bacteria so that the dog can take advantage of the proteins. The cereals that come in the composition of the rations of food are rice, wheat and derivatives such as pasta. We can also give the dog potatoes and products from the bakery like biscuits or hard bread. It is important that it is very well cooked in order to favor the digestion of starch. We can gain time by using cereals; once they are re-hydrated they will be mixed with meat and vegetables. Carrots will have priority because they contain fibers, vitamin A and they favor the digestive traffic. We will not use cabbage or baby cabbage . For the lipid balance of the ration we will then add 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil to the ration, which depends on the size of the dog.

Complements: These come in powder or in pills, the mineralized complements and vitamins can be bought in pharmacies, animal stores, agricultural supermarkets, etc.
