The Nervous Dog

Nervous Dog

A nervous dog disorder can be avoided if the animal has the right amount of space to relieve itself, it will take advantage of it to move as much as it can and eliminate the excess of energy. This way, it will compensate the anxiety of being alone. If it cannot get tired by moving, its stress will increase and it will present more attention to its surroundings: it will perceive all the noises or movements and will bark for hours. This waste of energy will get it tired, which is why we will have to increase its calorie intake by 20%.

The Active Dog: The active dog can have different ways of life. These will be the dogs that guard a warehouse alone during several hours and also the dog that goes on several walk that are more than 1 hour long, with games, chasing, running, etc. The god's energetic necessities will be superior to the normal ones (1.3 to 1.5 for the guard dog; from 1.1 to 1.2 for the active companion).

The Sporty Dog: There are several of sporty dogs. Evidently, the sled dog will not be feeding itself the same way that a city dog would after playing for 2 hours daily. The nourishment necessities depend on the type of the activity that the dog is doing. Other than the simple sports dog, that is benefited from physical activities superior to the usual ones, it also convenient to have in mind the dog for sports.

Extreme Dog Sports: In this category sled dogs and race dogs come out. The dog's that live in extreme climate conditions or participate in races must receive a very specific and adequate feeding for the exercise that they are into. Three types of races can be established, the short ones, medium and long distance.

For these types of dogs, alimentation has an essential role, since they need a highly energetic diet.

They both need, with no doubt, a very energetic ration. Therefore, they will receive different food regimens which are appropriate to their activity:

  • Race dogs. They require an energetic diet that is three times what a dog that does not do exercise takes. Their diet is composed by 30% of proteins and 15% of fats. The relationship between calcium and phosphorous will be from 1.3 to 1.6.
  • Sled dogs. Their energetic necessities double and can also quadruple those of a normal dog. Their ration must surpass the 30% of vitamins and the 15% of fats for the short and medium efforts and the 25% if they are long efforts. The relationship between calcium and phosphorous is from 1.5 to 2. Whatever the job they do is, it will be hard to make a ration in the traditional way and therefore it will be better to look into prepared food.

The Hunter Dog: During the hunt, no matter what the terrain is, the dog must be paying attention to its owner's orders and the signals that indicate the presence of the prey. The exercise will be tough because the dog must race towards the hunted animal or must stay still waiting for it to fall. In autumn and in spring the temperature can still be merciful, but in winter the dog must receive an alimentation that will permit it to realize a sustained effort during several hours, even though the temperature is below 0° C. Their basic energetic necessities should then be multiplied by 1.3, or even 1.4 depending on the climate.

The Doping: The best way to obtain good results in any sports discipline is based on a program of training and in a dietetic regime adapted to the objectives. The owner of the dog must administer a ration enriched with proteins, lipids, vitamins and minerals; this will provide all the dog needs to improve its physical state with no harm. Before the exercise we can give the dog magnesium to prevent cramps. During the great effort in the resistance test it is convenient that the dog eats sugars to prevent the wearing off of the glycogen in the muscles. Nevertheless, we have to be careful with bad combinations or excesses. On the other hand, those who medication, hormones and other non nutritious substances without the control of a veterinarian should at least consult this with a specialist. An excess of these substances could cause some serious harm to the dog. Even though some substances are very effective at first, the long term use of these can be harmful for the dog's health.

Doping your dog is an illegal activity. Whoever does this will have to rely on the rules that entity of organization has proposed, as well as the current legislation. Confessed Guilt
