Dog Leash Training
Lazy puppies can be as hard to train on the leash as overly energetic dogs. The dopey pup will often simply decide that he can't go another step no matter what you do to try and get him going. Try these steps and see if it doesn't help to get your dog moving in the right direction.
- Increase the tension in the leash but without pulling. For this you must use a regular collar.
- Be ready to click and highly reward your puppy when he makes a move toward you.
- Do this again and again whenever your dog decides to sit. Make sure to ignore the bad and reward the good behavior.
- Most dogs will learn after a few sessions that it is more fun to follow you. But some dogs will need more time and training so keep patiently trying.
