The dog and the neighbors
A well educated dog is a delight, and it usually grows as another member of your family. However, a disobedient and destructive animal may become a real problem, or even danger for the neighborhood. Each country has its own laws and legal dispositions referring to dogs, but there are also minimum rules that you must obey for a minimum courtesy and civic behavior within your society, wherever that is:
- Control the animal at all times. When you take your dog for a walk around the park or just on the street, both of you should keep the same or similar pace and always with the leash in your hand, this should prevent your dog from jumping on anyone, especially small children. Should the dog walk without the leash, it should obey your instructions to come back whenever you call upon him or her. Remember, not everyone is a dog fan.
- Don't leave your dog wandering around in the street. Make sure that it can't escape your backyard and don't lose sight of the animal at any moment when it is free. Keep a firm and special watch for your bitch while in heat.
- Clean everything your dog gets dirty. Carry poop tongs at all times, a plastic bag or paper tissues that you will use when your dog defecates, and get rid of the litter in the most hygienic way possible, in a special container for this kind of trash.
- Don't allow your dog to bark at strangers or at other dogs when you are on the street. This is a vital point of his education. An adequate education will help you avoid behavior issues such as uncontrollable barking when the dog is left home alone.
