Tasty Dog Treat Recipes

One thing that a lot of dog chefs do when preparing food for dogs is highlight on the way the food looks but sometimes forget the nutritional aspect of the food and on the odor of such food. Believe it or not, the way dog food smells is actually important and obviously the nutritional aspect is vital. Believe us if your dog is not interested in the way the food in front of him smells, he simply won't eat it. Not eating can result in inadequate nutrition and your dog will probably get sick.

Solid nutrition is something that must be prioritized; along with the way the food tastes and smells. If you have a dog get it into your head that it is not a funny game and feeding him is something that must be taken seriously. There are many recipes intended for dogs that should not actually be fed to dogs, as there are ingredients that should not be given to a dog and that can actually hurt or even cause death.

If you ever happen to run into a dog recipe that has onions in it, be very careful;

onions can be deadly to a few dog breeds, such as the Shiba and Akita breeds. Even though it is true that both humans and dogs are meat eaters and have for a long time shared the same types of food together, dogs are in essence meat eaters but have changed their eating habits up until recent centuries to go with those of their owners.

It is easy to actually change the eating habits of a dog since all you would need to do is put a plate of "vegetables" for example, in front of his face, which he will obviously not eat, however, keep on trying and you will see that eventually the dog will chow it down. The reason for this is pretty obvious, a dog won't starve to death; if he is hungry he will eat, and he will eat what you put in front of him. Eventually if you continue feeding the dog vegetables, he will refuse meat if you put it in front of him.

This is actually a method that has been used for a long time and was done to change the dog's diet to a more appropriate diet. It is still used today to change the diet of an animal.

The best way to keep your dog at its best health is by feeding it the right type of food and the right amounts of it. Don't get us wrong; dogs can eat cookies, biscuits, and treats but never any that are intended for humans. There are certain ingredients that are commonly used in human pastries, which are chocolate and processed sugar, and these are two things that should not be given to a dog.

Even though a lot of people do not know it, chocolate indeed contains arsenic in a natural form which has very little to no affect whatsoever on humans, however the metabolism of a dog, especially smaller dog's, are different from ours. Dogs are susceptible to arsenic. Believe it or not but even small little quantities of arsenic can seriously hurt a dog causing him death.

There are certain vegetables that contain arsenic such as turnips, apple seeds, fish, sea salt, milk, egg yolk, and certain types of cereal. Small teensy doses of arsenic are actually present in the human thyroid gland, mammary gland, thymus gland, hair and head. Don't by any means feed your dog unnatural foods, additives, or fillers.
