Taking in another animal

Dog aggressive with other Dog?

Is it possible to take in another animal while there is a dog at home?
The arrival of a new pet might cause some problems, like the Dog to be aggressive with other Dog? Obviously, not all dogs react the same way to a new family member. If during the imprinting face the pup has got used to the presence of other animals, it will probably have no problems afterwards. Nevertheless you have to be careful the dog does not feel left out, especially during the first days.

The dog and animals that don't belong to the family: In most of the cases, the dog learns to get along with the others at home. But this doesn't mean it will get along with all of the cats in the neighborhood. When it sees one in the garden, the dog will probably chase it, and won't care about any similarity with the cat at home. For the dog to get used to not chasing cats, hens, pigeons or rabbits, you will have to start educating him since the pup stage, making sure it understands predating behavior is not ap

preciated, and that it is good to ignore these animals.

Choice criteria: Once you make the decision of taking a dog home, you must mind the genetic background and personality of it.

Genetic background: The genetic background of a pup determines all the morphologic and psychological characteristics, which are inherited from its ancestors. Satisfactory development of the pup depends on the balance in these characteristics. Selective breeding, then, is not a product of infatuation or racism, but a necessity, in order to not lose the attributes that make each breed suit for certain kind of job. If you wish to participate in official dog shows, then you have to pay attention to the blood lines. A pup whose parents were champions with a good pedigree will have more possibilities of getting awards along its career than other dogs that come from more discrete lineage.

The pup's personality: There are some tests that will help us have an idea of the pups personality in the future. The Campbell test is, certainly, the most popular test for determining which dg is suited for which job or person. It is convenient for the test to be done by the future owner, or by an unknown person, which excludes the breeder.
