Stopping Dog from Pulling on Leash
One of the biggest and most common problems facing dog owners are dogs that pull on theirleasheswhen walking. The solutions are simple but require much time and patience. Whatever you do don't get into a pulling match with your dog, as this will only encourage him to pull more. Here are some steps you can use to help correct your dog's problem with pulling.
- Walk with your dog on the left. Always hold the leash with both hands. When your dog begins pulling move your left hand down his leash to a point just above his collar and pull down and backwards firmly.
- Command your dog to "Sit" and when he does reward him. Begin walking again.
- Every time your dog begins pulling repeat the previous steps. When your dog does not pull make sure to praise him and reward him.
