Control & Stop Dog from Chewing
It may be a hard thing to swallow but chewing problems are often times the owners own fault. If you have a dog that chews everything it's probably because you have fallen into the temptation of allowing your dog to have too much freedom. Leaving a dog alone in the house too often may also lead to this.Remember that dogs must have toys that they enjoy playing with that are distracting and keep them busy, if they are bored this will usually lead to this problem. Usually we know when our dogs have this problem, so don't be surprised if you come home and see that your favorite shoes have been chewed on… an easy solution for this is to put away the things you do not want your dog to chew! If you go into your house one day and find that your dog has chewed up everything imaginable, the first thing you must do is to take him outside and you need to check everything he has chewed on, as he may have swallowed or chewed something that could be harmful to him. Imagine if your dog eats something toxic or has swallowed a pin! If you think this is a possibility, be sure to take your dog to your vet immediately.Just remember that although a situation like this may be very nerve wrecking, you must not go into a rage, don't get angry and yell at your dog as all you will be teaching him is that whenever you come home, you are mad and intimidating. And the results of this may be more chewing because you are inviting him to become anxious. Staying calm is the trick here, and for next time it is recommendable to leave your dog with fun toys and stuff he is allowed to chew on such as Kong toys stuffed with something your dogs enjoys chewing and licking.
