Solving Problems & Training Better Dog Behaviors We have talked about some very effective training alternatives to punishing your dog when trying to break his bad behavior patterns. Punishment is by no means the best or even a good solution when solving your dogs behavioral problems. But when your dog is young (or older) and constantly whining, barking, jumping, chewing things or what have you; the situation can become very frustrating very quickly. Unfortunately animal shelters are proof of this. Just take a moment in one and you will see how many young dogs have been forsaken by exasperated families. This is of course completely unnecessary as all that these dogs need is proper stimulation, exercise, love, patience and of course, training. If you plan on getting a dog you must also be prepared for all of the hard work that goes into being a good owner/trainer. If you aren't willing to make room for your new dog in your home and time but instead stick him outside alone for hours on end then of course you will end up with a problematic puppy. But if you are willing to take the time to learn what motivates your dog and teach him to learn, then you will have a puppy who will love you and makes your home a happier place for years to come.
