Saint Bernard Puppy. Dog AKA Barry Hounds Breed & Race Information
The monks of Saint Bernard, a hospice founded in the Alps by this saint, in order to help the peregrines that were going to Italy, also dedicated their time to rescue avalanche victims and lost travelers. In the eighteenth century the monks began to trust dogs with the task of guiding, and started breeding their own kind, the Alpine Molossers. A painting made this dog's appearance famous, with his cute look and a little barrel, which, was added by the painter, Edwin Landseer. One of the most famous Saint Bernard's, Barry, saved 41 lives. His 41stmission ended in tragedy, when the victim, panicked, killed him. In 1810 the breed was known as Barry Hounds, and the dogs where not as large. In the following decades, the monks improved the breed until they got the Saint Bernard we know. The biggest dog in known history was a Saint Bernard named Benedictine, which weighed 152,5 kg.
Character of the Saint Bernard puppy: When pups they are lovely fur balls, which can lead you to be too gentle to them, this is not convenient, as this giant needs taming and discipline. Saint Bernard's are sociable, quiet and sweet. Absolutely faithful to their owners and family.

- Size: Male: more than 75 cm, Female: more than 65 cm.
- Weight: 55-100 kg
- Color: white and red or yellow and brown. With a black mask, separated by a white line that goes across the face.
- Hair: Can be either short and straight, or long.
