Considered to be one of the best "mountain" dogs the Saint Bernard is know worldwide for its abilities and dedication when searching for victims of avalanches.Large, muscular, robust and easygoing, this breed is at home whether working in the mountains or playing with the family children in the back yard. Intelligent with an uncanny sense of imminent danger this breeds readiness to be trained makes it an excellent choice as a watchdog. It is gentle and patient with children. Because of its size an immense power the Saint Bernard must be well trained if you hope to be able to control it with verbal commands alone.Exercise: They need lots of vigorous exercise to stay fit and healthy. The best is that it have area where it can run free but if not then it will need to be walked briskly at least a couple of times a day. Specialized care: Because of its thick coat and heavy undercoat it is vital that the Saint Bernard be brushed frequently. Minimum height: - Males: 70 centimeters
