Raw Dog Food Materials

Raw Dog Food Materials

Primary RAW DOG FOOD MATERIALS include the Meat and Fish Group: Meat (red or white, muscles, small red pieces) and fish come from the same process of food production that goes to human consumption.

Animal Flours: These raw dog food materials are obtained by grinding the animal's skeletons, representing a source rich in proteins. Nevertheless, because of the recent scandals it has been prohibited. The European norm stipulates the obligation to put the flours at 133°C and under a pressure of 3 bars during 20 minutes, which is usually enough to neutralize all the components that can endanger the animal's and human's health. Actually, this procedure was used to eradicate a bovine disease. In 1999 France was the only European country excluded from the transformation of the left over meat from slaughterhouses. Today, the rest of the countries have decided to take preventive measures against this. The matter that can be infected is incinerated and recycled like fuels or building materials.

The flours are composed of the different matter:

  • Meat: must represent an index of dry matter superior to 50%; the flours are composed by tissues that surround the bones and have been warmed up, dried and crushed.
  • Fish: the meat, the heads and the fish's waste come out of the net; the process of fabrication is similar to that of meat, after the extraction of a part of the oil.
  • Bones: this is the first source of calcium, obtained from the bones of bovines or pigs after they come out of the slaughterhouse.
  • Blood: picked up straight from the slaughterhouse it is taken to the factory where it is treated and any coagulation is filtered. It will be treated with anti-coagulant for foods, and the plasma and the hemoglobin will be separated by centrifugation and it will dry to be reduced to powder.
  • Feathers: these come from poultry.

Cereals: The most used are rice, wheat, corn and barley. Transformed into flakes, petals or flours they from part of the composition of the prepared foods.

Vegetables: Carrots, beats, etc. are used for this. Additives
