Putting a collar on your dog
As you can imagine it is a bit uncomfortable at first for a dog to have to learn how to wear a collar. To get him used to this, try putting in on him during brief periods throughout the day every day. As your dog goes getting older though, you will have to readjust the size of the collar and change it whenever necessary. Follow these steps whenever you are putting a collar on a dog:
- Measure the length of the collar around your dog's neck. Make sure you do not pull at the dog's hair (if your dog were to have long hair).
- You should be able to slide two of your fingers underneath a collar that has been put on well. The collar must be adjusted enough so that if the dog pulls it does not slide out of his head, however it should not be put on too tight so as to not hurt or bother the dog.
