Puppy Stage of Life. puppy teething stage
Developing their own individuality: In the physical plain; this comes with them losing their baby teeth. A newborn puppy stage of life changes fast. In the natural one, puppies at this age start developing independence or on the other hand live in the company of one of their siblings. This is their last chance to live and bond with humans. Dogs which haven't socialized with humans sometime before their 16th week will basically behave like any wild animal, which rules them out as pets. This stage is crucial to determine who the leader is: man or the dog. At this point in their education and training, it isn't simply a game, but a means to impose discipline. Between their third and fourth month dogs becomes an individual and begin to develop self-trust. All the well done work to this point will reflect on their future. It is convenient for the puppy to have positive experiences, take them to a lot of places, stimulate their curiosity, don't excite them unnecessarily and play with them plenty. A puppy that spends many hours alone in the garden or house doesn't have stimulating experiences and their intelligence development is limited. From their third month to a year, males begin to show detachment, while females begin to show it after their first or second heat. In the case of dogs that are less than three months old when bought (they should never be less than seven weeks old, since this is when they learn to relate with other dogs) they can learn to integrate with a few tricks.
- Advocate a bond to one member of the family. For example, impregnate the place where they sleep with this person's smell.
- Distract and stimulate the dog with toys, people and outings. Dogs should be taken out to the street from the beginning, although if they don't have all their shots they should be carried to avoid them from smelling of licking other dog's urine or other substances that may cause a disease.
- Control the playing. Punish when they bite or yelp like other puppies do; finish playing when you decide to stop or remain indifferent when the dog gets too excited.
- Have them wait until the family finishes eating, before serving their food.
- At around four or five months detach the dog from their master. Refuse them when they jump up and take out the owner's smell from their sleeping area. Encourage contact with adult dogs.
