If you are not paying attention to your dog's essential needs like making sure that he is not too hot, don't be surprised if he digs. When it is too hot, dogs instinctively dig to find a cool and dry place to rest in. If your dog lives outside, or is outside often in hot weather you need to make sure that he is getting the necessary shade, water, and shelter. If he gets too hot you might want to bring him inside the house.Different dogs have different sensitivity signs to hot and cold weather. Here are some ideas to keep your dog cool on a hot day:

• Invest in a sun-reflecting canvas and put it over your dog's outdoor house.
• Put some dog treats in the freezer and give these to him.
• Ice cubes in his water bowl are very refreshing.
• Put a kids pool and a sunshade in the back yard. Some breeds absolutely love water.

It is important to make sure that your dog gets plenty of water and shade on hot days. Even overly active dogs must be checked and not allowed to exaggerate in exercise. You can prevent any risk of heat stroke by taking your dog out in the early morning or in the evening when it iscooler.
