Original Dog Biscuits Recipes
Ingredients
1 and ½ cups of all purpose flour
¼ cup of rolled oats
2 tablespoons of baking powder
3 tablespoons of canola oil
2 tablespoons of honey
2 tablespoons of skim milk
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. oil a baking sheet with vegetable oil.
- Mix the flour, baking powder and oats together in a big bowl. Then add in the oil and honey and stir well until the mixture is well blended together. Slowly add in the milk until it acquires the consistency of a light dough.
- Place the dough over a lightly floured surface and knead slowly until the dough becomes smooth. Then use a rolling pin to roll the dough out to ¼ inch thickness.
- Use a fork to poke holes across the top of the dough evenly. Cut the dough into the shapes you like (or your dog likes) with cookie cutters or with a glass. Then put the biscuits over the baking sheet and bake them for 10 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- Allow them to cool completely before serving out.
Put leftovers in an airtight container and store for up to 1 week. Or wrap well in freezer wrap and store in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Serves around 20 dog biscuits.
Your Dog Hasn't Eaten?
There's no need to panic if your pooch refuses to eat his food for a day or two. Actually believe it or not, these types of fasts allow the body's organs to get rid of accumulated toxins, meaning that it is actually good for the body, as it is for humans. If your dog does not eat for a couple days don't stress about it. However if the problem persists beyond this, it may be a good idea to call the veterinarian.
Feeding Your Dog a Balanced Diet
Dogs, just like humans, must have a balanced diet. Avoid overfeeding meat to your dog or it might come up with health problems or immune system imbalances. When in the wild, a dog will actually eat a variety of different seeds, plants and vegetables to balance its body's needs out.
