Carrots: Carrots should be used fresh, not canned. Carrots are rich in potassium and vitamin A. When using them make sure to wash them or scrape them slightly. If you are using older carrots though make sure to peel them. There is not substitute for carrots.

Garlic: Fresh garlic is always best unless it is otherwise specified to use garlic powder in a recipe. When cooking with garlic, make sure that it is cooked so that the dog is able to digest it well. Although garlic is a common ingredient used in human foods, it isn't as common in dog recipes.

ney: Honey is a sweet and thick substance that bees produce from flower nectar. Bees usually obtain one type of nectar that produces honey with a different taste. Honey comes in two different ways, either crystallized or liquid. Honey does not have a substitute.

Parsley: Parsley should be used fresh in dog recipes.
Peas: Peas can either be used fresh or the frozen variety.
Corn: Corn can either be used fresh or the frozen variety.
