Dog Disease Symptom. Diseases in dogs
Canine corona virus disease:This disease is caused by a virus, which is similar to the one that causes the parvovirus, both in symptoms and effects. Gastroenteritis can be spontaneously cured, or complicate and cause death. Dogs of any breed or age are exposed to thisdog disease, although, fortunately, the death rate is low. Vaccinations have been recently introduced, for 6-7 weeks old pups.
Leptospirosis: This is a bacteria disease, which is transmitted by urine, and man can be infected as well. It can also be transmitted via direct or indirect contact. Leptospires invade the blood flow (this takes 4-7 days) and affect the kidneys and liver. Visible symptoms are depression, weakness, anorexia, abdominal pain and blood in the urine. It is necessary to vaccinate frequently if the animal lives in polluted areas, or mice, infested regions. This disease is all around the world, but it is more common in warm places with still waters.
Herpes virus: It is lethal in pups, and caused by a virus, which is transmitted via the mother, during labor, or by other members of the litter. Clinical signs affect every organic system and are evident in the 8th - 10th day, with depression, anorexia and abdominal pain. Pups die 9-14 days later. There isn't any known anti viral or vaccination. The only alternative is preventive environmental treatment.
Tuberculosis: Nowadays, there are still areas in which people and animals can get this disease. As the symptoms are not really different to any kind of infection, we have to be careful. To be certain, we need to do some laboratory tests. Due to the price of these tests and treatments, animals with this disease are usually put to sleep.
Parasite Diseases: These diseases are caused by unicellular or multi-cellular organisms, which live in the dog's organism. They can be underneath the skin (ticks, for example), and feed themselves with the body of the animal. The symptoms of these diseases are depression, anemia, weakness, and hepatic, pulmonary or heart complications. Breeders must be careful about this, for mothers may transmit these diseases during birth. Parasites cause irreversible muscular and skeletal weakness in pups. There are two kinds:
