Mexican bean and beef stew recipe
Pill problems? If you have a dog that has problems taking his pills, don't worry, this is normal. There are some methods and ways that can help you to resolve this dilemma. One of the easiest ways is by preparing a special treat for your dog and hiding the pill in there. Make it a special occasion for the dog, and make him anticipate the treat you are about to feed him. When he finally does accept the "treat" praise him and let him know that you are proud of him. Some treats to offer your dog with the hidden secret are:
- Peanut butter (chunky is best in these occasions)
- Cheese, ricotta, or cream
- Bread (use the kind that you can squeeze into a little ball)
- Cat food. Believe it or not, dogs are allowed to eat cat food, but cats cannot eat dog food.
Ingredients
½ cup raw brown rice
¾ cup water
½ tablespoon corn oil
½ cup ground beef
½ baby cabbage, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
½ stock celery, chopped
½ cup pink beans, cooked
½ cup dog broth (see directions for preparation)
1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
Pinch cilantro
½ teaspoon chili powder
Pinch cumin, ground
½ cup corn kernels
Steamed flour tortillas
½ cup grated Cheddar cheese
Use a sauce pan to bring the rice and water to a boil, when boiling reduce the heat, simmering rice, covered for about 40 minutes, or until tender. Use a frying pan and heat the oil over medium heat. Next, add in the beef and cook, break up the meat with a wooden spoon. Then, add in the baby cabbage, pepper, and celery. Cook until the baby cabbage is translucent. Next, add in the parsley, cilantro, chili powder, cumin, beans, and dog broth. Bring all of these to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer the stew, uncovered for about 15 minutes. Next, add in the corn and cook for 5 more minutes.
Rip the tortillas into bite size pieces and put it into the stew, stir. Put some steamed rice on the dogs bowl and add some stew on top, sprinkle the top with cheese. Makes approximately 1 kilo stew.
