Loch Ness dog scones recipe
This could save your life: Running into a stray or territorial dog can be quite a scary experience as it is difficult to predict what the behavior of the dog will be. Here are some pointers on what to do:
- Don't start yelling, talk calmly.
- Do not stare at the dog directly in the eyes as he might interpret this as a challenge.
- Stand straight. Make sure you do not put your face or neck near the dog's mouth.
- Do not jerk or make any sudden moves
- If you are in a trapped area, encourage the dog to leave with you to give him the idea that you are the one in charge here.
- Make sure you don't stand in the way of the dog's exit or stop it from leaving.
Ingredients
4 cups all purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup vegetable shortening
2 eggs, beaten lightly
1 cup milk
Heat oven to 200 C. and grease 2 baking sheets.
In a bowl for mixing, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Cut through shortening with butter knife or fork. In a smaller bowl, mix up egg and milk, then gently stir this into the flour mixture. Bring dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead softly for about 2 or 3 rounds. Then roll out dough about 1 cm thick and cut into 5 cm squares. Put scones on previously prepared baking sheets about 1 inch apart from each other. Bake for about 15 minutes.
