Liver and Bacon Cookies for Dogs Recipe
Ingredients
4 cups of whole-wheat flour
¾ cup of dry nonfat milk
¾ cup of chilled bacon drippings
3 tablespoons of desiccated liver
4 cups of quick rolled oats
3 eggs
1 and ¾ cups of beef broth, or as much as needed
Preparation
- Place the oven rack in the center of the oven and pre heat the oven to 400 degrees F. Place 2 slightly greased baking pan on the side.
- Use a large size bowl and a wire whisk to mix the whole-wheat flour and the dry milk together.
- Use a pastry blender to cut in the bacon drippings until the mixture acquires a fine meal consistency. Then stir in the live and oats with a fork.
- In a separate medium size bowl beat the eggs until they are foamy with an electric mixer on medium speed and then beat in the beef broth.
- Next, blend both the dry and wet preparations together with a spoon or use your hand until it becomes a soft sticky dough and starts to pull away from the bowl it is in. If it is too dry add a teensy bit more drippings to it at a time.
- Use a small spoon to then drop in spoonfuls of the dough mixture on the prepared baking pan and bake them for around 20 to 25 minutes or until they obtain a light brown color. Once done, take them out of the oven and allow them to cool to normal temperature. Turn the oven off at this point.
- Once the cookies have cooled, put them back inside the warm oven in one baking tray and allow them to sit in there undisturbed without opening the oven door for 10 to 15 hours straight.
