Puppy Leash Training

It's basic for the puppy to have a pleasant relation with his leash during training, and not to see it like an imposition. For the dog the leash should represent a prolongation of his owner's hand, and so there must be a friendly and confident relation. If the first contacts were traumatic, later work will be harder. Therefore, is very important for him to see the leash like a pleasant instrument and not like an enemy, though is good if he respects it and does not considers the leash as a toy. Mistakes to be avoided;

• pulling the leash repeatedly if the puppy refuses to walk with it
• to hit him with the leash (not even joking)
• to leave the leash at his disposal, allowing him to play with or bite it.
