Naming and Labeling Dog Behavior

Labels are cues that the trainer assigns to different actions. Labels should not be used until the dog can perform the action repeatedly and satisfactorily. If you label something before the dog has mastered it he will become confused as to what it is you want.Labels can be verbal sounds or hand signals or both. Make sure that when using verbal signals to make each label distinct so as to avoid your dog misunderstanding you.
