Important Information for
All Dog Owners

Just as with little babies and children there are many things within our homes that need to get taken out and moved to avoid accidents. Unfortunately in the case of a dog there are many things that we probably consider normal and would not worry about. However when bringing a puppy or new dog to the house it is very important to dog proof the house since there are many things that a dog could get into that could be hazardous or even fatal and that must be kept out of reach. Some of the most common household hazards are:

  • Swimming pool cleaners
  • Rat and rodent poisons and traps
  • Paint
  • Insecticides
  • Household cleaning agents
  • Herbicides
  • Fertilizers
  • Electrical cords
  • P

rescription and over the counter drugs
  • Chocolate
  • Caffeine
  • Antifreeze

Obviously these are all things that a lot of house owners need or want and having a dog does not mean that you cannot have them, but rather means they will need to be kept in a place the dog cannot reach or get to. Remember also when using them to keep the dog away from the temptation.
