How to give commands to a Dog
When first attempting to teach and train your dog you should use food treats generously. Of course if your dog is hungry he will find these lure much more provocative. So try having your training sessions right before his normal mealtime. When using snacks to lure your dog into a position or to perform some behavior, show him the snack but do not give him anything until he has performed something that you asked him to do.
You want to teach your dog to respond to your verbal commands without the need of a food lure and the way to do this is to quickly but progressively wean your dog off of the food treats after he has mastered a certain command.
