How to Clean your dog
In order to have a healthy and clean dog, it is important to check and clean your dog's ears, eyes, and teeth weekly. There are some breeds, such as the Shar Pei that require of extra attention. Cleaning and grooming your dog should consist of maintaining your dog's skin healthy, as well as keeping his hair and nails cut and trimmed. Doing this also gives you the opportunity to reinforce your authority and control over the dog. If you have a strong tempered dog, start out by ordering him to "sit" and "stay" firmly. And remember to praise him after the grooming session is over. Following are some ways to clean and check your dog's face:
- Hold on to your dog's face firmly with one hand, and very gently clean the skin around the dog's eyes with the other hand. Use a piece of wet cotton to get rid of any eye discharges.
- Use one of your hands to hold open one of your dog's ears and softly clean the inside with another piece of wet cotton. Make sure you do not go too deeply inside the dog's ear as you may hurt him.
- Dog's faces have a tendency to accumulate dust, dirt, and dead skin that produce bacteria. Clean your dog's face with a wet piece of cotton to get rid of these.
