I'm worried that my dog can get over weight: Weigh him regularly, and keep a record of it. With a small or middle size dog, the easiest way is to hold him up and stand on a scale with him in your arms. Then do the same without the dog and find the difference. Big dogs can cause more trouble unless you can persuade them to stand on the scale. The ideal weight for a pedigree dog can be found accordingly to the breed's standard. Usually there are two ideal weights, as female dogs weight less than males. Weight variations are considerably from one breed to another.
