Grooming a soft haired dog
Some breeds have soft hair, like Boxers. This type of coat is generally very easy to groom and it looks nice with just brushing it once or twice a week. You can also use a special dog conditioner to help the dog's coat to stay soft and shiny. Follow these tips when grooming your dog:
- Use a currycomb to remove and loosen all the dead hair and dirt off of the dog's coat. Brush in the opposite direction of the hair to help remove dirt.
- Then, use a soft wired brush to get rid of the dead skin as well as dead hair. Brush the whole dogs coat including his tail and paws.
- Finally, use a grooming glove on the dog's coat in order to enhance its shine. If you want to, you can also use a special dog conditioner for more shine. Talk to your veterinarian about an appropriate conditioner for you dog.
