A dog Genetics, abuse, or a lack of exposure?

Often times people assume that when a dog is fearful or stressful that they have been mistreated or abused by their previous owners. Although this may sometimes be the case, more often dogs get or are fearful because they didn't have enough or any experience with other types of people, certain sounds, or other dogs etc. Some breeds are just simply shyer than others too. And it is important to know that although there are some breeds that are more prone to this problem, any dog can grow up with these problems if they haven't had proper training or have had bad experiences in their lives.

Dog breeding: If you are to buy a puppy, a good idea is to investigate whom you are buying from. Good breeders are committed people who are educated, and who know that a lot of love and care goes into taking care of puppies. Good breeders also let you know how to handle the puppy and how to train them appropriately. Genetics might also be the problem in your puppy, and if this is so, don't despair as it is possible to train them quickly if the problem is caught at an early period of life. If you find yourself looking for a dog and the one you want has fearful traits, a good idea is to ask questions about the parents of the dog, or choose a breeder who knows how to perform an aptitude test on your to be dog. (This is a method that is used a lot for selecting the proper puppy for each home, and was developed by Wendy and Joachim Volhard).
