Front Door Dog Safety Training
One thing that is very important to keeping your dog safe is to make sure to keep the front door closed. Prevent your dog from running off by thinking ahead of him and not letting him have the right to use the front door. You can put up a screen door that closes quickly and tightly. Baby gates are also an option for the doorway to prevent him from escaping. Remember to teach you whole family to careful of where the dog is when they are coming in and out of the house. It's better to put your dog in a crate when there are lots of people in the house or when there is a party of family get together. Often times dogs run out of the house at these particular times and get hurt or run over by cars because they are left unattended. Be sure to keep an eye on him during these times as well. It is important to invest some time teaching him the correct manners while he is near the door, for example sitting without going through the door (even if it is open) until you tell him to. This might require for you to spend some time in, and it is a good idea to get someone to help you with this. Hang on to the leash while doing this in case he tries to escape. Try to practice this as often as possible until you get the right behavior from him.
It is a very complicated job to teach your dog to respond to your call. It not only has to do with training him but with his relationship with you as well as your leadership and the way that you manage him. It is essential for you to accomplish this so that your dog realizes that you are worth being paid attention to. Once this objective has been obtained you will be able to look forward to all kinds of variables and you will be able to teach your dog to look at you no matter what distractions he has around. This will also teach your dog a consistent call. Make sure to do these necessary things to make a safe and adequate surrounding for him.
