Once you understand what the problem dog behavior is and are using management to control it you must make the next crucial step, which is to reinforce the correct response. If your dog isn't taught and well indoctrinated in the new modified dog behavior then he will simply revert to the old.

Recognizing negative reinforcement: Look at how your dog's negative behavior is being reinforced. Your dog is looking for attention and if you are giving it to him even as a reaction to his wrong behavior then he will continue doing what gets the response he is looking for. Maybe you just need to ignore him or possibly someone is giving him too much freedom to do as he pleases. Dealing with what is reinforcing the misbehavior will help greatly toward ridding him of it. Be sure to reward him for what he is doing right in the situation. If there isn't anything that he is doing right then you must make it easier for him and help him to learn what he should be doing.
